Dental check-ups

A dental check-up is a thorough examination where your dentist or dental hygienist examines your teeth and the general health of your mouth.

We primarily look for cavities and inflammation of the gums (gingivitis) or inflammation of the supporting tissue around the teeth (periodontitis).

Dental check-ups

Regular inspections
are important!

Regular dental check-ups are the path to beautiful and healthy teeth. The goal is prevention, and the examination ensures that any problems are nipped in the bud, avoiding broken teeth, major treatments and expensive dental bills.

No surprises
- get a treatment plan

At PLUS1, you'll always receive a treatment plan and we'll make you aware of the preventive measures and treatments needed to keep your teeth healthy. The treatment plan gives you an overview of future dental expenses.

Why X-ray images

Not everything can be seen with the naked eye, which is why we sometimes recommend X-rays to help us find 'hidden' conditions, especially cavities between teeth or under old fillings.

Our modern dental chairs have built-in digital X-rays for sharp images and minimal radiation. We store your X-rays in our electronic medical records so we have previous images to compare with.

Cavities in the teeth can sometimes only be seen on X-rays. Inflammatory conditions in the jaw can also only be seen on X-rays. When detected in time, you will potentially avoid root canals, tooth extractions, cysts and bone loss.

How often do I need to visit the dentist?

The dentist always makes an individual assessment of how often you should visit the dentist. An appointment for a dental check-up is therefore based on need and is agreed on a case-by-case basis. Often 3, 6, 9 or 12 months pass between visits.

In April 2015, new benefits and rules for dental check-ups were introduced. This means that you will be placed in a group (green, yellow or red category), where the dentist will decide how often you need a check-up - and how many check-ups you are eligible for.

If you are a new patient, you must book an appointment for a dental check-up. After the examination, you will be informed which group you belong to and how often you need to come depending on your needs.

During a checkup, we can often prevent by nipping your dental problems in the bud. This can save you from major treatments later in life.

What does a dental checkup cost?

The price of a dental check-up is regulated by the government, so you pay the same amount at all dentists in Denmark.
